Gastric Banding Retractor

The special requirements of obesity surgery require specially designed instruments. In order to implant the elastic band used in so-called "gastric banding," KARL STORZ offers a specially developed retractor.

The instrument can be used as a blunt retractor and simultaneously can be used to help attach the band in the distal window and pull it around the esophagus.

Laparoscopic Endovascular procedures

Patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm are being treated ever more frequently using endovascular procedures. Due to the long-term problems associated with endoprotheses, in addition to conventional and endoluminal interventions, laparoscopic procedures are now gaining status as the third treatment option for patients with aortic aneurysm or occlusive vascular disease. The results of laparoscopic aorta surgery are comparable with, or better than, those of open surgery.

Because the ideal instrument set for this is now available, surgeons can treat patients with aorto-iliac occlusive vascular disease or abdominal aortic aneurysm using laparoscopic procedures. With such procedures, the postoperative recovery process after major aortic surgery can be accelerated and the long-term complications of conventional interventions avoided.
