The 1970s

With the introduction of the new endoscopic techniques to urology, instrumentation for these, now clearly visualised procedures, became an important part of our business.

We were able to add a useful accessory to this range: the lubricant Surgilube made by FOUGERA (USA).

By now the company was well established.  In 1973 I was asked to join a multi-disciplinary team of the World Health Organisation, for a research project in the Western Pacific Region.  For just over six months I investigated the medical equipment needs of twelve under developed countries.  Visits were also made to developed countries such as Australia, New Zealand and Japan, whose help we wished to enlist in providing financial or educational assistance for the project.

I was fortunate in 1980.  Having obtained his University degrees, my son, Gordon, decided to join the company for a "trial" period.  The "trial" has turned into a successful and pleasant co-operation.

We were fortunate enough to obtain the Australian distribution rights for the GORETEX PTFE Vascular
graft in 1977.

Our success with this product resulted in the Gore company establishing their own office in Sydney in 1984.
