The 1960s

The 1960s heralded the age of conveniently packaged sterile cotton swabs, sponges and dressings.

ACME COTTON was one of the pioneers in this field with the early introduction of X-Ray detectable thread woven into these OR swabs, dressings etc.

The Norwegian surgeon working in Denmark, Prof. I. Rygg, and his engineer friend, Eric Kyvsgaard, collaborated in producing a safe, ready to use oxygenator for open heart surgery.

Thus began the manufacturing of the product line of POLYSTAN; cardiac by-pass equipment, bubble oxygenators, cardiotomy reservoirs, perfusion catheters etc.  For well over a decade, they represented the gold standard in Australia for perfusion.
